Everything you should know about this event

Let’s dive into the latest version of SonarQube, a powerful static code analysis tool that enhances both code quality and security. Dick Dijk will provide you with valuable insights and show you how to effectively incorporate SonarQube into your projects for immediate results.

More and more, we see engineering teams playing a key role in shaping the direction of business goals. But why is this the case? What makes these teams so instrumental in driving strategic decisions within organisations? Thomas Bunnik will share the possibilities of an enhancing and stimulating team spirit. We’ll explore the shifting dynamics between technology and business operations and the impact engineering has on business decisions.

The speakers

Dick Dijk – Freelance Java Expert - Dijkrosoft

Dick - freelancer for 20+ years - is a passionate (full-stack) developer (Java, Python, and JavaScript). He is a fan of Test-Driven Development, believing it improves the application architecture and guarantees a safety net for future changes. It’s his goal to always produce high-quality code and he uses tools like SonarQube to get an insight into the code quality and pointers to improve it.

He also enjoys automating repetitive tasks as much as possible, using a combination of shell tools (bash, sed, awk) and Python. Dick is a member of the Utrecht JUG and a regular attendee of their meetups. He prefers developing on macOS.

Beyond his work, Dick is a volunteer for the Littil organisation, which aims to connect IT professionals to schools (kids aged 9–14). And organises interactive presentations at schools to educate kids on IT subjects (programming or cyber rijbewijs). He also participates in Devoxx4Kids, an international initiative that introduces children to programming, robotics, and engineering through fun and interactive workshops (in the weekend, for kids aged 9–14).

Thomas Bunnik – CEO & Co-Founder Whoppah

Thomas Bunnik (41) held global management positions in investment product management with ABN AMRO Bank from 2006 till 2014, where he also oversaw online distribution worldwide.

On his 30th birthday Thomas resigned from ABN AMRO to follow his dream to build digital wealth manager Pritle. As the foundation of the business he acquired and rebuilt Dutch investment firm Fundix with the help of angel investors. During 2016 Pritle was rolled out across various countries and grew out to become the largest independent digital wealth manager of continental Europe.

In March 2017 Pritle was acquired by BinckBank for €12,5 million. Thomas and the 32 FTE team worked with BinckBank till 2018 to help integrate the platform and organisation.

After his fintech journey, Thomas wanted to help change the world by becoming a sustainability oriented technology entrepreneur. Thomas and his wife Evelien founded Whoppah, the marketplace for pre-owned interior design items. After 5,7 years, Whoppah is the second largest consumer oriented interior marketplace in Europe and is striving to become the category leader in each European country.
