Your profile as Team Lead (Hands-off) with Java or Kotlin backround - Payments

Engineering & Delivery Lead - Neo-Bank PlatformPermanent position | FinTech & Payments | Dutch or English | Up to €100,000 including holiday allowanceHave you previously helped build a digital banking or payment platform? Are you ready for a role that combines technology, leadership, delivery and client responsibility?We are looking for an Engineering & Delivery Lead for an established Dutch software engineering company. You will be responsible for delivering a new neo-bank platform covering bank accounts, payments, reconciliation processes and an online banking portal.You will no longer be programming hands-on, but your technical background remains essential. You understand what engineers are building, can contribute to discussions about architecture and technical decisions, and know what it takes to deliver reliable and scalable financial software.What will you do?You will lead a team of experienced software engineers responsible for developing and implementing the new platform. You will connect the engineering team with the client and other internal and external stakeholders.You will maintain oversight of both the technical and organisational progress, ensuring that the team takes responsibility for the complete outcome.Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting a team of experienced software engineers;
  • Guiding the development of a new neo-bank platform;
  • Taking responsibility for planning, quality, risks and delivery;
  • Translating technical challenges into clear decisions for clients and stakeholders;
  • Contributing to discussions about architecture, integrations, security, scalability and compliance;
  • Identifying dependencies and potential issues at an early stage;
  • Managing expectations and facilitating communication between technology and business;
  • Creating an environment in which engineers can work autonomously and take ownership.Why is this role interesting?This is not a traditional management position where you simply monitor reports and dashboards. You will remain close to the technology and take responsibility for a platform that will become the financial core of an organisation.You will join a software company that develops complex, business-critical platforms for the financial sector. Its engineering teams have considerable autonomy and take ownership of the entire journey: from architecture and development to implementation, performance and continuity.This position gives you the opportunity to:
  • Contribute to a completely new digital banking platform from an early stage;
  • Work on software covering accounts, payments, reconciliation and online banking;
  • Influence both technical decisions and the way the engineering team operates;
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, product owners and senior stakeholders;
  • Apply your banking and payments experience to a visible, strategic project;
  • Progress from a senior engineering, architecture or tech lead position into a broader leadership role.Who are we looking for?You started your career in software development or architecture and have since progressed into a leadership role. This enables you to understand and challenge engineers without needing to write code yourself every day.You also have:
  • Demonstrable experience building or implementing a digital banking, core-banking or payment platform;
  • Knowledge of accounts, payments, transaction processing, reconciliation and banking portals;
  • Experience as a Tech Lead, Engineering Manager, Technical Delivery Manager, Lead Developer or Solution Architect;
  • Experience leading or supporting software engineering teams;
  • The ability to explain technical subjects clearly to non-technical stakeholders;
  • Experience working directly with clients and managing different interests;
  • An understanding of security, compliance and reliability within financial services;
  • Professional proficiency in Dutch or English.The specific programming language you previously worked with is less important than your experience with complex financial platforms and your ability to connect technology, people and delivery.What is offered?
  • A permanent position within an experienced Dutch software engineering company;
  • A salary of up to €100,000 gross per year, including holiday allowance, based on 40 hours;
  • A technically focused leadership position without daily programming responsibilities;
  • Significant influence over the development of a new neo-bank platform;
  • The opportunity to work with experienced engineers and FinTech and payments specialists.Interested?Have you previously built a banking or payment platform and are you ready to take responsibility for both an engineering team and the relationship with the client?Send me a message. I would be happy to tell you more about the organisation, the platform and the ambitions behind this position.
