Sebastian began his journey at OEV as a Software Developer. Over time, he has seen the company expand and adapt to the dynamic demands of the industry. "I started at OEV in 2010.  As the company grew, our product teams emerged, and I transitioned into the role of a Software Architect to align our products with quality requirements," Sebastian reflects. Since 2019, Sebastian has also taken on the responsibility of leading the development department.  

OEV focuses on creating content management systems for insurance companies, enabling them to build and manage their websites efficiently. This involves not just technical expertise but also a deep understanding of the business requirements and a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.

Managing a large team of developers is no small feat. Sebastian leads a dedicated team of 12 developers. "We prefer to work with directly employed developers instead of freelancers. To remain flexible, we source consulting and conceptual services from external firms when required," Sebastian explains. This strategy allows the company to stay flexible and adapt to diverse project needs while maintaining the core capabilities within its own team.  

Like many in the industry, Sebastian acknowledges the challenges of finding skilled developers. "Developers are hard to find in the market. However, Spilberg’s understanding of our needs and their thorough screening process make it easier," he says. This partnership has been particularly valuable during critical times, such as when OEV transitioned to a new content management system in 2020. "We have a good atmosphere with our interdisciplinary product teams. Developers have the opportunity to have a substantial impact on product development, and we support mobile working", says Sebastian. “Since our product teams consist of employees from both the Berlin and Düsseldorf offices, we have additional team days where the entire team meets on-site.” This flexibility and collaborative culture contribute to a stable and motivated team.
